Music Guidelines
Guidance for music rights and audio used in content.
These guidelines cover music rights and audio used in content.
Music uploads and use in content
Music can appear as a standalone item or as audio in another format. A person who uploads or attaches a track must have the rights and permissions needed for that particular use, territory, and duration. Owning a recording does not necessarily mean owning the composition or performance rights.
- Do not upload, stream, or attach a track merely because it is available elsewhere online.
- Follow any license conditions, attribution requirements, and regional restrictions.
- Do not use audio to impersonate, threaten, or expose another person.
- Respond honestly to a rights inquiry and use the applicable report or dispute route.
What you can do
- Use music only when you have the rights or permission.
- Check regional and format-specific usage limits.
- Respond promptly to a rights concern or claim.
